Can a Moron Change it's Spots?

First off I want to thank the lovely ladies who attended the live chat we had last night in my BlogFrog Community. I was able to connect with a great bunch of ladies, get some great new blogs to follow as well as interact with fellow women who have been with Morons.  Since they are rather unoriginal characters, our former Morons were all very much alike and we shared some extremely comical stories as well as some great insights. Those who were unable to make it, I will be doing another one soon!!!

This actually is a nice segway into today's topic of leopards changing spots. Do Morons ever stop being Morons? I know it's possible, only because I am a believer. I believe in the intrinsic good in people. I believe people can overcome the largest of hurdles. I believe the world as a whole to still be a good place - despite the odd nut job. I believe if you want something bad enough, and work hard to get it, anything is possible.

However, a Moron's belief system and life code is not built upon mutual respect or building up of one's partner. Morons are all about dominance and tearing down one's partner. Moron's crave power and control, and unless something extremely drastic changes in their lives, and they let true love into their battered and black little hearts, than no transformation can occur. And this takes a lot of work, and self work is what the Moron shies away from the most. Funny how the Moron keeps running away from himself and never gets away???

So what makes a Moron a Moron is the old nature vs nurture debate. I instead, choose to re-direct my energies towards making better decisions for myself and in essence, hopefully steering clear of all Moronic species in general.

Do YOU think a Moron can change its spots?

I have been living with a moron for 15 years and every time I have had enough of his emotional abuse and tell him I am leaving, he is the most loving, kindest man...great with his children and the man I wish he were all the time. Of course, with time, he changes back to the moron he always was. This time is the last and I will be leaving but right now, I have a wonderful husband. Why wait for 15 years before you act this nice??? Are his spots changing...no. Nuff said...

This made me sad. I am hoping his spots can really change, and if not that you have the courage and strength to do whatever you need to do. My thoughts and prayers are with you...

Ah yes, but one could hope that divine intervention or call it what you will, could be a possibility to spur one in the right direction....

I am glad I can be of some assistance. I was quite isolated and alone while going through all of this, and found when I was able to connect with people who had been through it - and truly understand it, it was so reasuring. Like somehow in validated what I was feeling and going through. And that I wasn't crazy.

The idealist in me believes this too, but the realist says exactly what you have, it is rare, and it is sad...

I do not feel they ever will. Morons will be Morons, till the end...

Morons can't change their spots until they become non-morons and GET HELP!

Thank you for your blog! It is helping make me stronger!! ~LynnC

Perhaps, if the leopard was under the influence and then got clean or had an untreated mental illness that became manageable on meds. But in most cases I'd say no, the spots are the same or get bigger.

I would like to think that anyone can change, but I have not seen lots of evidence yet :)

Morons will never change. Why because they would have to possess that limited intelligence to know and recognise that there is something wrong with them in the first to make a change.

From my experience I know they can change. Fundamentally they are troubled and unwell people and usually unwilling to accept this and accept the type of intervention that would help them. But I bet sometimes you will find those that recognize they are fundamentally unhappy, treat people like sh$t and seek help.....but sadly it's rare....

Your plan sounds like a winner. You can not change anyone, only how you act upon their behavior. Can a moron change? I think they can, but it has to be their desire. The demons that cause such destruction are deep and it goes from one generation to the next. A complete change yes, but more likely a humbled appreciation for life and others. Self love is a tough battle.

I suppose it's possible.... but once I've dated a moron, I have absolutely no intention of dating him again, regardless of whether or not he's changed his spots! An ass is an ass Suzie! At the end of the day, I think that a moron/ass will always, at his core, have assness as his principle trait. It's part of their genetic code :-D

I think yes. The reason behind that answer is that just today, my ex boyfriend from college - a certifiable moron - sent me some very nice text messages saying that he was sorry for how he treated me, he always will/always has loved me, and would marry me in a second if things were different. I don't feel the same obviously, but it was definitely a big "change of spots" so to speak!

well, I bet that was very nice to hear... perhaps there is hope...

I agree that they usually don't. It takes a strong desire and a lot of work on their parts.

But I also believe they can. My husband has.

Is he cured? No. Is he better? By leaps and bounds.

Lots of therapy later and a medication that moderates his anger have played a huge part. But none of it does any good if he isn't interested in changing. If he doesn't see his role in the problem.

And I mean see it for real, not just after he's blown up and wants to make up. That's just more of the cycle.

I really like your blog. There are many things here I identify with. It's too bad so many of us understand this so well.

Thank you for speaking up.

Thank you for stopping by :) I think that is pretty amazing that your husband is doing the work, it is never easy to change patterns that have been in place, especially if they have been there a long time. I am sure your love and understanding has enabled him as well.
Hearing your story there is hope for other Morons. Who knows, possibly even mine. I hate the thought he is doing this to someone else, and of course, there is my daughter...
