Abuse is Abuse - No Matter the Package it Comes In

There are many different types of abuse.  Although they take on different forms, the result is quite often exactly the same. The victims of abuse follow the same paths, and need to heal their wounds.

Often physical abuse is the easiest to spot - as there are visible bruises and scars.  The scars from emotional and psychological abuse, are not visible to the naked eye, and are often hardest to heal.

Here is just a small reminder out there that ALL abuse, is abuse.  Abuse needs to STOP.

Everyone deserves respect and a life free from control and fear - in whatever form that comes in.

Being someone who survived emotional abuse, as well as sexual abuse, I appreciate the awareness of both. Just because you can't see scars doesn't mean they aren't there.

So true. And unfortunately, the legal system isn't as protective of people who are abuse in less visible ways. I have a solution though. Come to my blog and check it out!

i think most of us could sort of live with the physical scars, once they are safe, but the personal damage makes it so difficult to actually feel safe. as in : ever.

My ex husband physically abused me at times, but it was rarely visible...I was raped...but it wasn't visible to the public. He was the king of holding his hands on your throat while he forced you to do something...making sure you could feel the pressure, but not leaving a mark...but the verbal/emotional/mental abuse and damage as a result...there aren't visible scars for that. But that is what I suffered the most from...that is what I have the most lingering issues with.

Abuse is abuse. Too many don't recognize it for what it is.

Thanks for this post.

You are so right. Sometimes the victim doesn't always know that they are being abused, it's quite sad. Every single person on this planet deserves to be respected and honored. There is no such thing as superiority when it comes to humanity, we were truly created equal. It's sad that the insecurities of another would cause him/her to inflict pain upon someone else :-(

That is so very true, invisible scars still need to heal. I am sorry that you have some of your own - but am glad that you are healing, and breaking the silence :)

Very sad, and unfortunately all too common :(
Thanks for stopping by, and providing such a beautiful and eloquent comment. Here's to equality!

I am so sorry for what you have gone thru. I am thankful that he is now an ex. I will truly never understand the ways of abusers. I can isolate their behaviour, and theoretically recognize their aggression - but I will never really get what would cause one human being to hurt another one with such intensity.

Thank you very much. Spoken like someone who knows the frightening fear of abuse. I wish you peace and safety...

Why is this? In my view the legal system lacks any form of protectiveness to victims in general. think it has anything to do with the gender bias found in our society? Heading off to check out your solution....
